WhatsApp repair reporting for Sheffield letting agents

Hauz was built in Sheffield by two University of Sheffield graduates who rented here as students. It's a WhatsApp assistant that turns tenants' repair messages into clear tickets for your team, made for the shared houses that student letting agents look after every day.

Made for Sheffield's student areas

Students from the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University share houses all over the city, and each area brings its own repair headaches.

  • Broomhill and Crookesmoor. Busy shared houses close to the University of Sheffield, where several tenants often report the same fault in different ways. Hauz keeps it to one ticket with the whole conversation.
  • Crookes. Terraced houses shared by groups of friends, often over several floors. Knowing which room it is, and who's in, saves a wasted visit up a steep hill.
  • Ecclesall Road. Flats and houses popular with students from both universities, where tenants are often out at lectures, work or placements. Hauz asks for access times and key permission up front.

Snug and keeping good records

Snug is Sheffield's student housing accreditation scheme, run by the council with both universities. Its standards cover how landlords manage repairs, as well as the condition of the property. Hauz keeps a time-stamped record of every report, photo and update, so it's easy to show what was reported, when, and what you did about it. Hauz isn't part of Snug or the council: it simply makes the record keeping easier. The same records will help when Awaab's Law comes to private renting.

How it works for your team

  1. We set up your Hauz WhatsApp number and add your properties. There's nothing for tenants to install.
  2. Tenants message when something breaks. Hauz asks for the property, room, a photo, access times and permission to use a key.
  3. Your team gets one clear ticket, sorted Emergency, Urgent or Routine, with notes on who to call. Emergencies like a gas smell or a front door that won't lock are flagged straight away.

You can assign a contractor from the ticket and send them a private job link. They add before and after photos and mark the job done, and you close it once you've checked. See the full how it works section, or read about repairs in shared student houses.

Ready for September

Summer is when void works, inspections and move-in snags all land at once. Jobs you spot on an inspection can go straight onto the same dashboard with photos, alongside what tenants report, so the whole team can see what's left to do before the new tenants arrive.
